Don't trust cash converters with testing

Main Post:

I bought a ps4 from them the other day for my brother's birthday. I set it up for him only to find the disk drive to not bring the disc in or out. So I took it back and was understandable that this was probably a fluke and they exchanged it for another one. This time, whenever I launch a game, I get error ce-34878-0 plastered on the screen whenever I try to launch any game. And before anyone asks, Ive done all the things to try and fix it save from putting the original hardrive in which I don't have cause they never had the drive. So now I've got to go back again today, hopefully get a better deal or just get my money back. Now I'm not sure if these are flukes or not but I just cannot understand how these errors are made if they've been tested properly. I've made this post just to tell everyone who shops at cash converters for any console to make them show you it works where it is shown playing a game.

Why don't people answer the door when it's a cash delivery?

Main Post:

Do they just think we'll leave it or something? I've had 2 in the last 2 weeks where the customer didn't answer the phone nor text after 10-20 minutes so I headed back to the store. Both times I asked pizza hut if I could have it and they said yes. I got paid for the return as well. The order was for 23.87 for a medium pizza and some cinnamon. I wouldn't pay that either. The cheese pizza with extra cheese was quite delicious 😋

Don’t use Card Cash they are a scam!!

Main Post:

Do not send your cards to the NJ office!!

One of the gift cards I mailed in -they used, zeroed out the balance and told me I sent it in with a zero balance. I have proof it was not zero when I mailed it in.

They said they have no way of using the card (an obvious lie) and I should contact the merchant.

I did contact they merchant and get this-the card was redeemed in NJ. I am states away. They stole a $200 gift card, never paid me and blamed the merchant.

This has been happening to hundreds of people lately if you read current reviews on better business. It’s time for a class action lawsuit to the scummy company.

Top Comment: Is it possible someone in the postal delivery chain in NJ had something to see through your envelope and steal it that way? Most people in this recent post about them report good experiences using them.

When you don't have cash for home renovations, what do you do? This is our forever home.

Main Post:

Let me preface this by saying this is our forever home. We are raising our kids here, we like the town, and all our family is here. We have been here for over a decade and we have a good low rate. We're happy here, but I I would be happier if I could do some finishing touch up home renovations. The problem is every time our cash flow gets near to work I could do these things, something happens. Like for instance our furnace broke, so that put a big dent in our extra cash flow. I'm not saying I want to do these crazy big renovations (not even saying all at once) but I do want to do some finishing touches that require more cash. I'd like to enjoy my home now instead of years down the road.

I'm asking here because in the personal finance subreddit, their response to everything is hard cash, but I don't think they realize that most middle class people do not have tens of thousands of dollars on hand. I'm curious about financing options. What direction do most people go when they want to finance stuff for their home?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

If you need background on finances: My husband and I have both stable jobs. I have a pension for when I retire. Husband is retired vet. I have a supplemental retirement and so does he. We are not worried about saving for retirement. Our debt is two cars and the mortgage. Nothing else.

Top Comment: Wait and save money. It sounds like you are referring to “wants” and not “needs”, so you just practice discipline and save until you can afford it.

Can't use my debit card. Don't have cash. Paypal doesn't work.

Main Post:

Hey guys. It's my third week in Korea. I had no problem paying for things for the first two weeks with my citi debit card. It started just a week ago that my card kept declining possibly because the chip was too sensitive and it got damaged. It also stopped working on Baemin and I really don't know why. I called Citi and they said to verify my identity, they will send mail to my house in US and I need to call and give them the reference number. I told them I'm traveling so I can't get the mail. They said I need to ask a family member or a friend to take a Pic and send me the reference number. I try to 계좌이체 for things but now PayPal takes almost a week to deliver the payment. I think it's for security purposes but honestly I don't know why. I thought that my card alone would be OK to pay for things before coming here so now I literally have no money (I do but it's in US). Can anyone of you order baemin for me and I venmo you or if anyone has cash (doesn't matter whether in US dallors or Korean won) can we meet and I venmo you? I never thought I would have to write this but I'm so hungry I felt I must do something. 🥺

Top Comment: That sucks. Did you call your bank ahead of time and let them know you’re traveling? Also, in future I’d highly recommend having at least 3 different cards when traveling, especially a variety like an Amex, visa, debit etc. plus always have cash. Sorry I can’t offer anything more.

Online shopping category for BOA Customized Cash Rewards Credit

Main Post:

Trying to expand my use of Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards Credit card - online shopping category sounds interesting. Could you give an example of what you have used this card for online shopping (what qualifies as such and what does not?)

The examples on the BOA website are pretty generic:

Merchant examples* Amazon Comcast Etsy Netflix Nordstrom Ticketmaster Walmart

Anything else you have tried as online shopping for this card?

Top Comment: I've been keeping track. These vendors all qualify: Adobe, Amazon, GoDaddy, Hulu, Lands' End, Microsoft, MileIQ, Monoprice, MyQ subscription renewal, Officedepot.com, Seatgeek, Sweetwater, Target.com, Tesla premium connectivity subscription renewal, Wayfair, Zoom

Why can’t I use Uber Cash when I have no money?

Main Post:

First time buying and using Uber Cash. I bought Uber Cash because I need to take Ubers to work and I have a bad spending habit so I didn’t want to keep the money in my bank. But Uber won’t even let me use it because I don’t have money on my card???? What’s the point of buying Uber Cash if I can’t use it unless I have the money on my card???? Is there any way around this?
